Car songs and other rambling thoughts
Happy New Year to everyone out there in Mopar Land! Hope your Holidays were wonderful and relaxing. Time to get those winter projects going now that the leaves are off the trees and there's a nip in the air! After all, you do want to be finished by the time the Rally rolls around. That's coming faster than you think. As of today, Jan 1, it's now only 156 days away, and the time will race by as it always does.
To pass the time away while we are out working in our garages we probably listen to some great old car songs. Some of my favorites include (in no particular order) Mustang Sally by the wicked Mr. Pickett; Hot Rod Lincoln-Commander Cody's version is the best I think; the great trio of car songs by the Beach Boys: 409; Fun, Fun, Fun; and Little Duece Coupe, and to add a little humor to the mix; Beep, Beep, you know, it's that song about the little Nash Rambler. I'm sure you have your fave's as well, so why don't you email me a list to rt6t9don@sbcglobal.net and I will compile a list of favorites and print them in an upcoming Bee. Please don't put them on the forum, as I don't want to be responsible for clogging up peoples email boxes.
One thing I am disappointed about is the lack of songs featuring our beloved Mopars. Either I'm clueless (and I'm not arguing that) or they're just not out there. (The Roadrunner theme from the Bugs Bunny cartoons doesn't count)
So for all you budding singer-songwriters out there, there is a niche that needs to be filled!
Also, as we open a new calendar, I know there are loads of people out who have owned their Mopars for a good long time ( I've had my Charger R/T since 1976). I would like you to tell me the story about you and your Mopar, and I will feature it in issues of The Bee. Please limit your submissions to one page and email it to me at the above address. You'll need to use .doc or .pdf formats as I cannot use the new .docx format, due to an ancient computer. Thanks in advance for your contributions and again,
Happy New Year to one and all!
Don
